Downtown Paid Parking Program Begins Monday, April 4th

Soft Enforcement Comes to a Close, 16 Pay Stations and PayByPhone in Place                                                                                                                                   

(GALVESTON, TX) April 1, 2016 – Beginning Monday, April 4^th, paid parking Downtown will be enforced Monday through Saturdayfrom 9 AM to 6 PM daily.  Visitors now have the option to use any of the sixteen new pay stations throughout Downtown or the PayByPhone system to pay for parking.  The spaces are no longer numbered and visitors will pay per license plate so that they may move freely from one location to another within the paid parking area without the need to pay an additional fee unless more time is needed. 

Visitors may pay for parking using cash or a credit/debit card at the newly installed pay stations located at the intersections of 21^st, 22^nd, 23^rd, and 24^th Streets at Strand, Mechanic, Market, and Postoffice.  Credit or debit card payments for parking may also be made via the PayByPhone mobile app, or on the web at paybyphone.com.  Annual passes will not be available for Downtown paid parking.  All parking payments are associated with a license plate and are non-transferable.  Please note that handicap plates and placards as well as Disabled Veteran plates are exempt.

Downtown Paid Parking: Effective April 4^th

Fee:                                     $1.50/hour ($0.25 convenience fee per transaction for PayByPhone)

Operation:                         9 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Saturday, daily
